PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor effective for preventing, improving and treating hypertension such as secondary (sumptomatic) hypertension. SOLUTION: This angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor comprises, as an effective ingredient, a peptide obtained by decomposing cow bone with protease or the like and represented by H-Gly-Leu-Hyp-Gly-Thr-Ala-Gly-Leu-Hyp- Gly-Met-OH or X-Gly-Leu-Hyp-Gly-Thr-Ala-Gly-Leu-Hyp-Gly-A-Y (X is H, acetyl, a higher alkyl such as phthalyl, succinyl or pyroglutamyl; Y is OH, amide, benzyl, or a lower alkyl such as methyl, ethyl or the like; and A is methionine, leucine, isoleucine or norleucine).
