摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch combustion mode in a shorter time than a current one, while maintaining combustion safety when switching the combustion mode of a cylinder-inside injection engine. SOLUTION: When a request to switch the combustion mode for a short time to purge NOx from the NOx catalyst is detected during the stratified charge combustion mode operation of the cylinder-inside injection engine, operation mode is temporarily switched to a homogeneous combustion mode. Intake valve timing (intake VCT) and exhaust valve timing (exhaust VCT) as control parameters having a large response delay among control parameters of a pneumatic system are fixed to a target value of the stratified charge combustion mode as a combustion mode before switching the operation mode, and the only other control parameter (throttle opening, EGR valve, an air flow control valve) of the pneumatic system are immediately switched to a target value of the homogeneous combustion mode as a combustion mode after switching the operation mode.
