PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve cooling capability of a refrigerator having a freezing room and a refrigeration room. SOLUTION: The refrigerator consists of at least the freezing room and the refrigeration room, and is equipped with a reciprocating type compressor 69, a condenser 71, an electric motor type three-way valve 72, first and second capillary tubes 73, 74, a cooler 36 for the freezing, room, a cooler 26 for the refrigeration room and a control device. After condensing the refrigerant delivered from the compressor with the condenser by switching the three-way valve based on the temperature of the freezing room and the refrigeration room, the device alternatively performs both rooms cooling mode supplying it to the cooler for the refrigeration room and the cooler for the freezing room sequentially from one side outlet of the three-way valve through the capillary tube 73, and the freezing room cooling mode supplying it to the cooler for the freezing room from the other outlet of the three-way valve through the capillary tube 74, and closes both outlets of the three-way valve when the compressor stops.
