PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fit and fix a skeleton-fixed column and a fitted adjustable column both of which have end caps provided on top and bottom ends thereof in a width adjustable gatepost installed in a skeleton of a mansion to each other while adjusting lengths of the two columns to a same length. SOLUTION: End caps 4 and 5 are respectively fitly arranged to both the top and bottom ends of the skeleton fixed column 2 having the same length as that of the gatepost 1 and the fitted adjustable column 3 fitted to the skeleton fixed column, and the end cap 4 of the skeleton fixed column 2 is formed in the shape of a flat plane rectangle approximately 1 to 2 mm in thickness, the end cap 5 of the fitted adjustable column 3 is formed in the shape of a plane rectangle having a relief space 54 in the rear side of a raised surface 53 by having the outer circumferential edge section 52 and the in-plane raised surface 53 making approximately 2 to 3 mm of an uneven step with the outer circumferential edge section, the end caps 4 and 5 are formed in the shapes having different heights of uneven steps to freely insert the end cap 4 of the skeleton fixed column 2 into the relief space 54, and two columns can be fitted with an adjustable width.
