An improved method for expanding and drying tobacco, comprising: - a step of feeding the tobacco, - a step of expanding the tobacco by means of a process fluid, - a step of drying the expanded tobacco by means of the process fluid heated by a heat generator (24), characterised in that the process fl u id used for said expansion step is obtained by suitably mixing the process fluid withdrawn downstream of the drying step, after separating the tobacco, with the process fluid withdrawn downstream of the heat generator. |
