PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve crack resistance of surfaces of rubber of a tire and maintain the rubber in high quality and more pliable state, by substantially retarding diffusion of internal protective chemicals. SOLUTION: A tire mold 2 has radially inner surfaces for forming a tread and a pair of sidewalls, and at least either sidewall forming surface has a portion of an average surface roughness of less than 0.381 microns (15 microinches), preferably less than 0.254 microns (10 microinches). At least either sidewall of a tire manufactured in the mold 2 has a surface having a surface glossiness of more than 10 as measured under a 60°gloss reading per the specular gloss designation D523-89 of American Society for Testing and Materials.
