<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image decoder which can easily restore, even if information are lost by mistake, and does not so much increase the code quantity as in the periodic refresh or the error correction. <P>SOLUTION: The image decoder has a code string separator 506 for separating an input code string containing a basic code string and an additional code string formed by simplifying the basic code string into the basic code string and the additional code string, a decoder 508 for decoding the basic code string or the additional code string to output decoded data, an error detector 509 for deciding whether the basic code string is decodable by the decoder 508, and code string switches 507, 511 for inputting the basic code string or the additional code string to the decoder 508, if the basic code string is decided to be decodable or not decodable, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
