There are described benzoylcyclohexanediones of the formula I, their preparation, and their use as herbicides and plant growth regulators.In this formula (I), R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, R<7>, R<a>, R<b >and R<c >are various radicals, and Y and Z are a monoatomic bridge element.
