PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate manipulation of a word processing document by an application.

SOLUTION: The system comprises a first component to read the word processor document stored as a single XML file, a second component to utilize an XSD to implement the word processor document, and a third component to take an action to the word processor document. The XSD is publicly disclosed and can be used by applications other than the above word processor.
