PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for acquiring the separation of pure plasma on a microlitter-scale from whole blood in a short time, and a method thereof. SOLUTION: The apparatus for separating and delivering plasma comprises an analyzing element, which comprises a first region and a second region, and a delivering unit. The separating element is placed in the apparatus so that a user can add blood to the first region. The method having two independent successive steps is conducted; when blood is added to the first region of the element, the plasma is transferred to the second region of the element, and the blood cell components are substantially completely retained in the first region of the element. The delivering unit acts substantially on the second region of the element without influencing the first region of the element so that, after the separation of the plasma, the separated plasma is discharged from the second region of the element and is delivered from an outlet of the apparatus.
