PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for executing effective defragmentation in an optical network capable of setting wavelength paths in different bandwidths.SOLUTION: Provided is a controller of an optical network capable of setting wavelength paths in different bandwidths by using one slot or a plurality of slots contiguous in order of wavelength, a basic bandwidth constituting one slot. This controller sets the order in which slots are used, and determines, on the basis of quality information, whether the number of slots used for a wavelength path can be reduced by moving the wavelength path when the wavelength path can be moved to an unused slot adjacent to the wavelength path and having higher priority of use than the wavelength path, and further by changing, when the wavelength path to be moved uses a plurality of slots, a modulation format of the wavelength path in a slot after being moved. When the number of slots used for the wavelength path can be reduced, the controller determines a state after a defragmentation process by reducing the number of slots used. |
