<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user's preference data generation method and a unit relevant to video color characteristic and a video color preference characteristic conversion method and a unit using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The user's preference data generation method includes a step to obtain video color characteristic values of a preferred video and a reference video, a step to generate äpreference characteristic value, reference characteristic value} corresponding to a pair of the preference characteristic value and the reference characteristic value, and a step to generate the äpreference characteristic value, reference characteristic value} pair as a preference characteristic metadata comprising at least one characteristic block.
