PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element having good luminous efficiency without using a rare metal as a light-emitting material.SOLUTION: The light-emitting element has a first electrode, a second electrode, and an organic compound-containing layer sandwiched between the first electrode and the second electrode. The organic compound-containing layer has at least a light-emitting layer containing a fluorescent substance. The light-emitting layer contains the fluorescent substance, a first organic compound, and a second organic compound. The first organic compound and the second organic compound are a combination forming an exciplex. The first organic compound is a substance having a first skeleton containing a benzofuropyrimidine skeleton or a benzothienopyrimidine skeleton.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 20
