PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yellow developer for developing electrostatic charge image having a good color forming property and excellent in stability of charged state over a prolonged period of time, and to provide an image forming method using the developer and obtaining excellent in image quality. SOLUTION: The yellow developer for developing electrostatic charge image obtained by mixing a toner comprising at least a binder resin and a yellow colorant with a carrier prepared by disposing a coating layer comprising a least a resin and particles on the surface of a magnetic core material, is characterized in that the carrier is a carrier having surface ruggedness originating in particles in the coating layer, the toner is a toner obtained by dissolving or dispersing a prepolymer consisting of a modified polyester resin, a compound which extends or crosslinks with the prepolymer, and toner components in an organic solvent, bringing the resulting solution or dispersion into a crosslinking reaction and/or an extension reaction in an aqueous medium, and removing the solvent from the resulting dispersion, and the yellow colorant is a compound (1) represented by the formula.
