PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable composition capable of forming an optical member having reduced transmission loss in the use of a red semiconductor laser with excellent productivity. SOLUTION: The polymerizable composition for the optical member contains the polymerizable monomer containing (metha) acrylic ester having the heterocyclic hydrocarbon, a polymerization initiator, a chain transfer agent and if necessary, a mixture of compounds having different refraction factor from the polymerizable monomer. The method of manufacturing the refraction factor distribution type optical member includes a process for polymerizing the polymerizable composition, preferably by the interfacial gel polymerization.
