PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fray-preventing aqueous fixing agent for a glass fiber base material, being aqueous material, capable of forming a soft fixed part and also having a resistance against various organic solvents, and a glass fiber base material treated with the same. SOLUTION: This fray-preventing aqueous fixing agent for the glass fiber base material contains (A) an acid-modified polyolefin resin, (B) a melamine resin and an aqueous medium, and the glass fiber base material treated with the agent is also provided. Preferably (C) a resin having a hydroxy group is used simultaneously. Also the fray is prevented by fixing the glass fiber base material with a resin composition formed by cross-linking the resin which is a solid portion of the fray-preventing aqueous fixing agent.
