PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using calcium as a negative active material, with high capacity and high safety. SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte battery has a positive electrode using carbon fluoride as an active material, a negative electrode using calcium as an active material, and the nonaqueous electrolyte prepared by dissolving an imide salt of calcium such as bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)calcium imidate or a sufonate of calcium such as trifluoromethanecalcium salfonate in an organic solvent such as esters, ethers, nitriles, or amides.
