PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially excellent method of producing a hydrogen-containing gas, wherein it is possible by improving a catalyst to efficiently produce a hydrogen-based converted gas even when methanol and steam as raw materials are reacted for a long term under high-load conditions including a large gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) calculated from their sum. SOLUTION: In the method of producing the hydrogen-containing gas, methanol is reacted with steam in the presence of a catalyst based on platinum or palladium, zinc oxide, and chromium oxide.
