PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for tracking a position of a mobile station positioned in a trunk area are provided to reduce an error of tracking a position of a mobile station located in an area where a repeater is installed. CONSTITUTION: A base station issues a command to turn on a main path of one repeater and turn off a diversity path(S410). The base station measures first delay time of a mobile station(S420). The base station turns off the main path and turns on the diversity path to measure second delay time of the mobile station(S430). The base station determines whether the second delay time is greater than the first delay time(S440). If the second delay time is greater than the first delay time, the base station determines whether the mobile station is in a corresponding repeater area and tracks a position of the mobile station in consideration of the position of the repeater and the first delay time of the mobile station(S460).
