METHOD FOR REDUCING VOLUME OF CRUSHED FOAMED RESIN MOLDING, VOLUME-REDUCED FOAMED RESIN PARTICLE, AND MOLDING FROM THE RESIN PARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reform the closed cell percentage and foaming reserve power of the volume-reduced particles of a crushed foamed resin molding and to improve the physical properties of a molding foamed by using the volume-reduced foamed resin particles as a raw material.

SOLUTION: Hot air whose temperature is by 10-30°C higher than the Vicat softening temperature of the substrate resin of the crushed foamed resin molding is introduced into the crushed molding for primary volume reduction. Secondary volume reduction is done by introducing hot air whose temperature is by 45-60°C higher than the Vicat softening temperature. By the internal mold foaming of the obtained volume-reduced foamed resin particles according to a given method, the molding of high compression strength is obtained. In this way, crushed particles of below 5 mm in an average particle size, which are insufficient in foaming reserve power and have been difficult to be used in internal mold foaming, can be used effectively as a foaming material.
