<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a devitrification for removing a devitrified part generated on the surface or the surface layer part of a luminous part caused by partially heating a boundary part by using a part heating means, e.g., a laser, a pencil burner etc. with miniaturization of an arc tube, a method of manufacturing an arc tube in which the loss of the transparency part is removed, an arc tube manufactured by the method, and a discharge lamp with the arc tube incorporated therein as a light source. <P>SOLUTION: A translucency insulating tube to be a material of the arc tube, which has a luminous part with a pair of electrodes provided therein and a sealing part formed at the end part of the luminous part, makes a part at which the luminous part is formed a predetermined part for forming the luminous part, partially irradiates the devitrified part generated on the surface of the predetermined part with a laser beam, and heats the devitrified part. Furthermore, while rotating the translucency insulating tube with a tube axis of the insulating tube as the center, an irradiation region with the laser beam is moved along the tube axis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
