RELAY NETWORK SWITCHING METHOD AND OPTICAL EDGE APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay network switching method and an optical edge apparatus for efficiently switching and using an IP network and an optical network.

SOLUTION: A network system comprises: a client 1; a first optical edge apparatus 5 connected to the client 1; a server 2; a second optical edge apparatus 6 connected to the server 2; and the IP network 3 and an optical network (photonic network) 4 interconnecting the first and second optical edge apparatuses 5, 6. When the first optical edge apparatus 5 detects traffic of data downloaded from the server 2 and switches a communication medium from the IP network 3 into the optical network 4 when the traffic volume exceeds a preset prescribed volume.
