PURPOSE: A spindle motor is provided to shorten settling time by lifting balls dropped due to ball sliding generated in initially driving the spindle motor. CONSTITUTION: A stator is formed by forming a bearing housing(120) in the center of a base plate(110), installing a core assembly(123) formed of a plurality of cores and a coil winding part(123a) on an outside wall of the bearing housing, and installing a printed circuit board(111) on the base plate to apply a control current to the coil winding part. A shaft(140) is inserted into a metal bearing(121) mounted at the bearing housing so that the shaft is rotatively supported. A rotator(130) is formed of a rotor yoke(131) made in cylindrical shape covering the upper sides and the sides of the bearing housing and the core assembly, and magnets(133) attached to the inner side of the rotor yoke, opposite to the core assembly, wherein N-poles and S-poles of the magnets are repeatedly magnetized. A turntable(150) is fixed at the shaft extended to the upper part of the rotator, having a buffer member(151) buffering a shock and preventing sliding when an optical disk is loaded. A plurality of ribs are arranged on an inner side of a ball containing part at appropriate gaps.
