PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst in which the selectivity coefficient of dimethyl ether is high when carbon dioxide and hydrogen are used for production of dimethyl ether.SOLUTION: This invention provides a catalyst for producing dimethyl ether by reaction of a carbon oxide and hydrogen. The catalyst is formed by a sol-gel process, and contains a copper element, a gallium element and an aluminum oxide.
