摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy-made rim of a wheel for vehicles, in which any of fractured or broken part is not arisen in a joining part, whose thickness is partly made thinner through a friction stir welding operation, so that excellent joining quality can be secured, and also to provide a method for manufacturing the rim advantageously. SOLUTION: The friction stir welding operation is performed by inserting the pin 30 of the rotary jig 28 into the abutting part 14 so that the expression of (H-h)/h≥ΔT/t is satisfied in the structure, where H (Hv) is hardness in the cross section of the joining part 16, h (HV) is hardness in the cross section of a base material 18,ΔT (mm) is a plate thickness decrement of the center part in the width direction of the joining part 16, and t (mm) is a plate thickness of the base material 18.
