PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for generating a warning sound according to a watching grade for a broadcasting receiver are provided to recognize a watching grade included to the broadcasting signal and then to generate the warning sound according to the watching grade, thereby enhancing the convenience of the product. CONSTITUTION: A watching grade recognition member(200) is connected to an output side of a general tuner(200). A watching grade alarm character generating member(203) is connected to an output side of the watching grade recognition member. An alarm sound storage member(205) stores previously alarm sounds according to watching grades and a fault alarm sound of the watching grade recognition member. An alarm sound selecting member(205) selects an alarm sound according to the watching grade of the watching grade recognition member. An alarm sound generating member(209) generates the alarm sound of the alarm sound selecting member.
