PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bore honing method capable of reducing defective works and capable of preventing an abnormal abrasion and breakage of a grindstone. SOLUTION: The work is honed in accordance with a taper by measuring bore data at a plurality of points different in the axial direction of the work and indexing the taper on the bore side of the work from the bore data at a plurality of these points in a state where no honing is applied on the work 13 by the honing grindstone 26, in honing the bore of the work 13 after thermal treatment by the honing grindstone 26 provided on a honing head 12 by rotary motion and axial direction reciprocal motion of the honing head 12.
