PURPOSE: A thread wrapping and knotting method and an apparatus thereof are provided to render the thread strongly wrapped around a sewing cotton of a button and accurately and precisely engaged around a side of the sewing cotton of the button. CONSTITUTION: One end of a thread is fixed to the side of a sewing cotton of a button and the thread is extended so as to be wrapped around the side of the sewing cotton of the button, forming a circle. The thread is further extended so as to be wound around the circle at least one turn. The circular thread is engaged around the side of the sewing cotton of the button. The other end of the thread is drawn to form a twice twisted knot. An apparatus for wrapping and knotting of a thread includes a base(100), a button holder(200), a knot guider(300) for guiding the thread, a winding member(400) having a winding arm(420) and a first driver(430) for rotating the winding arm, a thread drawing member(500), a second driver for supplying power to both guider and drawing member, and a tensioning member for regulating a tension of the thread.
