PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emission circuit of a light emission device having a simple structure and capable of easily emitting light by applying a high voltage to an emission discharge tube; and to provide a control method of the light emission circuit. SOLUTION: This light emission circuit has: the light emission discharge tube 5; a first charging circuit 2 charged to a first voltage for storing luminescent energy to be supplied to one of the electrodes of the discharge tube 5; a second charging circuit 3 charged to a second voltage having a value higher than that of the first voltage; a lowering circuit 6 for lowering a voltage supplied from the charging circuit 3 and applied to the other electrode of the discharge tube 5; a trigger circuit 7 supplied with the voltage from the charging circuit 3 and starting light emission of the discharge tube 5; and a light emission start circuit 8 for directing light emission start to the trigger circuit 7.
