PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishbait basket for casting, capable of effectively releasing the fishbait at a desired fishing depth. SOLUTION: The fishbait basket for the casting has a basket body having a terminal part opened so that the fishbait may be filled, and a lid part attached to the opening part of the basket body so as to be freely opened and closed by using a hinge. The fishbait basket has a swingable hook protruded from the lid part to the basket body, and an engaging part of the hook, installed in the basket body. The hook is urged in the direction in which the hook engages with the engaging part. A pressure-receiving plate is attached to the opposite side of an axially attaching part of the hook, and a water-passing part is formed in the side wall of the basket body. As a result, the fishbait basket turns the pressure-receiving plate by the water pressure of the water entering from the water-passing part to swing the hook in the direction in which the hook is released from the engaging part when the fishline is rapidly pulled when the fishbait basket is cast to a prescribed point and reaches the fishing depth to enable the fishbait and bait attached to a hook to be released precisely at the aimed fishing depth.
