The gauge has a piezoelectric sensor (2) that measures the level of fuel in a tank (1) of a motor vehicle. A low-pass filtering unit (3) filters the level signal coming from the piezoelectric sensor. The filtering unit has a time constant function of acceleration data of the vehicle for delivering a filtered signal. The time constant of the low pass filtering unit is determined using a preset relation.
