PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing deposit of fine glass particles, which method is capable of producing high-quality deposit of fine glass particles by reducing the deformation of a raw material gas feed pipe and to provide a burner for fine glass particle formation. SOLUTION: The method comprises using a core formation burner 22 having a burner body 31 having on its center a raw material gas feed pipe that blows a glass raw material gas and a clad formation burner 21, forming fine glass particles by means of the burners 21 and 22 to deposit them on a starting material 14 to form a fine glass deposit 24. When the fine glass particles are formed and deposited by means of the burners 21 and 22, the deflection length of the front end of the raw material gas feed pipe 32a is kept at 1.2 mm or shorter.
