PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an opening-sealed honeycomb structure which is free from restriction on a working environment, enables inexpensive manufacture of the opening-sealed honeycomb structure in a short time and decreases the quantity of industrial waste. SOLUTION: In this method, at least an image of the end face of the honeycomb structure 48 is picked up to acquire image data which enable specification of the shapes and positions of cells (opening-sealed cells) to be closed and cells (opening-non-sealed cells) not to be closed. Based on the image data, a mask 41B for forming an opening-sealed part having hole portions 46 which can communicate with the opening-sealed cells and a projection 44 which can be fitted at least in a part of the honeycomb structure 48 is prepared by an optical shaping method. The masks 41A, 41B and 41C for forming the opening-sealed part are fixed on the end face of the honeycomb structure 48 by fitting each of the projections 44 at least in a part of the structure 48. In this state, a ceramic slurry is introduced into the opening-sealed cells through the hole portions 46 of the masks 41A, 41B and 41C, so as to form the opening-sealed part.
