摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply structured optical device for performing output, control, detection, guide operations, or the like of laser light for reducing the size of its element. SOLUTION: An optical device 10 has a slab layer 14 that is formed of a lamination of an active layer 11 and clad layers 12, 13, extends two-dimensionally, and has periodical refractive index distribution profile structure. It also comprises a two dimensional slab photonic crystalline structure in which a linear defective region serving as a waveguide is introduced to the periodic refractive index distribution profile structure, wherein a plurality of regions 3, 4 in which the width of the waveguide 2 is different are formed such that the waveguide 2 is connected in series.
