<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector capable of obtaining a sufficient shield effect by only one shield structure either at a plug side or a receptacle side. <P>SOLUTION: Side walls 132, 132 and 133, 133 for demarcating a receiving space 134 for receiving the insertion part 232 of a plug connector 21 are formed on an insulator 13. A signal contact contacting the signal contact of the plug connector 21 is held by the insulator 13 and a high frequency shield member 17 is held by the insulator 13. The high frequency shield member 17 has a shield plate 171 covering outer faces of the side walls 132, 132 and 133, 133, a first extension part 172 connected to one end of the shield plate 171 and contacts a shield contact 25' of the plug connector 21, and a second extension part 173 connected to the other end of the shield plate 171 and corresponds to the first extension part 171.
