PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing method using a developer carrier which does not cause problems, such as density degradation, sleeve ghost, sleeve fusion, blotch, and fogging, even under different environments, and can stably obtain a high grade image having high image density without density unevenness. SOLUTION: The developer carrier, which caries a one-component developer for visualizing the electrostatic latent image carried on an electrostatic latent image carrier, has at least a substrate 5 and a resin coating layer 6 formed on the substrate surface. The resin coating layer 6 contains at least a resin 6 and graphitized particles (a). The graphitized particles are 0.20≤p(002)≤0.95 in the degree of graphitization p (002) and the initial wear height Rpk on the surface of the resin coating layer is 0.2 to 1.0μm.
