PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constantly keep the soil of an artificial green area in wet state without applying excess water in the greening of the veranda, house top or roof of a building using rain water as a major part of irrigation water while saving the labor. SOLUTION: Water is supplied to a soil layer 5 of the green area composed of a water-retention layer 3 and the soil layer 5 in a building greening structure. A plurality of triangular columns 6 each covered with a water-absorbing sheet 7 are placed in the soil layer 5 as three-dimensional structures and the edge 7a of the water-absorbing sheet 7 is dipped in the water (below the water surface) of the water-retaining layer 3 to supply water to the soil. The artificial green area A is composed of the water-retention layer 3, the soil layer 5 placed on the water-retention layer 3, the triangular columns 6 placed in the soil layer 5 as the three-dimensional structures, and the water-absorbing sheet 7 covering the triangular columns 6 and dipping the edge 7a of the sheet in the water of the water-retention layer 3.
