PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device which includes a light-emitting element emitting light from a top surface and a side surface and which can control the distribution of the light emitted from the light-emitting element as desired.SOLUTION: A light-emitting device includes a light-emitting element emitting light from a top surface and a side surface, and a light flux control member that controls the distribution of the light emitted from the light-emitting element. The light flux control member includes a back surface disposed apart from a substrate, an incidence surface to which the light emitted from the light-emitting element is incident, and an emission surface from which at least a part of the light incident into the incidence surface is emitted to the outside. When the diameter of an opening of a concave portion is φ, the maximum length of the light-emitting element in the plan view is L, and the thickness of the light-emitting element is t, the diameter φ is twice or more the distance from the center axis of the light flux control member at the point where the illuminance is maximum in the illuminance distribution on the substrate of the light emitted from the side surface of the light-emitting element and reaching the substrate, and is less than L+12t.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
