<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the quality of a decoded image of an entire object image in a simple manner. <P>SOLUTION: An image coding apparatus capable of performing inter-frame prediction coding of a moving picture includes: a frame memory (103) of storing the moving picture of a plurality of frames; an image feature quantities calculation means (100) for calculating a feature qualities for each frame of the stored moving picture; image coding means (105, 106 and 107) for coding the moving picture stored in the frame memory on the basis of the calculated feature quantities; a decision means (100) for deciding a plurality of the frames as one group of the processing object on the basis of the feature quantities; and an assignment means (100) for assigning a code quantity to each frame on the basis of the feature quantities and the number of frames included in the decided group, and the image coding means apply coding to the moving picture stored in the storage means so that the moving picture has the assigned code quantity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
