PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating device for a brake device assuring a good versatility and capable of locating an operation lever still more certainly.

SOLUTION: The operating device 100 for the brake device 1 to restrict the rotation of a brake drum 3 is equipped with the operation lever 112 supported capable of being turned in the movable range including the brake disengage mode to admit the rotation of the brake drum 3 both in the regular and reverse directions and the assist brake mode to restrict only the reverse rotation of the brake drum and energized in the normal condition in the direction from the brake disengage mode till the assist brake mode and an actuation restricting part 120 to restrict the turn of the operation lever 112 from abutting to the lever 112 in the brake disengage mode till reaching the assist brake mode.
