<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost optical frequency shifter array which has only a small number of parts and low energy consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The optical frequency shifter array is equipped with: an optical demultiplexer 202 which divides input light 201 to a plurality of outputs; a first wavelength conversion part 200A; and a second wavelength conversion part 200B. The first wavelength conversion part 200A has: wavelength converters each of which includes, a wavelength selector 203 which selects an arbitrary wavelength from the input light as signal light, an optical coupler 205 which multiplexes the selected signal light with control light, and a nonlinear optical medium 206 for outputting first conversion light having a differential frequency of the signal light and the control light or second higher harmonics of the control light; an optical multiplexer 207 for multiplexing the respective outputs of the wavelength converter; and a filter 208. The wavelength converters, optical multiplexer 207 and filter 208 are cascade-connected. The second wavelength conversion part 200B has cascade-connected parts of: an optical coupler 210 for multiplexing the first conversion light as the signal light with the control light; a nonlinear optical medium 211 for outputting the second conversion light being the differential frequency of the signal light and the control light or the second higher harmonics of the control light; and a filter 212. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
