PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound recording device and method capable of effectively removing noise sound such as the driving sound of a mechanical system and a motor from collected sound. SOLUTION: The driving sounds of a focusing mechanism, a zooming mechanism, a diaphragm mechanism and a shutter mechanism as noise data are recorded as noise data in a flash memory 56. When the driving systems of them operate for sound recording and the driving sounds are included in generated voice data, noise data corresponding to the driving sounds is read from noise data recorded in the flash memory 56. A microcomputer 50 predicts the operation timing of the mechanical system making the driving sounds, and calculates sound data generated from sounds collected at this predicted timing and the noise data to generate sound data from which noise is removed.
