PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a polarizing film which has fewer scratches and wrinkles and has no folding. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a polarizing film by treating a PVA type film, it is characterized by which a widening roller is used in treatment liquid, the widening roller is located on the position where the maximum widening amountβof the widening roller determined by the following mathematical expression (1) exceeds the expansion amountγin the width direction of film in the widening roller determined by the following mathematical expression (2) or the widening roller having a shape exceeding the expansion amountγis used:β=B<SB>1</SB>×α×r/R .... (1),γ=0.2055×B<SB>1</SB>×äexp(-0.0273×θ<SB>1</SB>)-exp(-0.0273×θ)}.... (2). In the expressions, B<SB>1</SB>is a film width in contact with the roller,αis contact angle, r is radius of the roller, R is radius of curvature,θis a running time in liquid until the film separates from the roller andθ<SB>1</SB>is a running time in liquid until the film is brought into contact with the roller.
