The invention relates to a method for establishing multimedia calls from a telephone terminal (T1) to a terminal (T2) which is connected to an IP network. According to the invention, a request (DA) for a call, containing an identifier (ID2) for a terminal (T2) is sent from a terminal (T1) to a server (SMR). The server (SMR) stores the identifier (ID2) associated with a number (NT) in a table (5C) and enables transmission of an incoming call (AE) of a number (NS) arriving at a gateway (PEA) in order to establish a call by the terminal (T1), said incoming call (AE) comprising a characteristic (CAR) used to indicate a relationship between the numbers (NT) and (NS). The gateway (PEA) for establishing a call indicates the characteristic (CAR) to the server (SMR) which determines the identifier (ID2) associated (TC) in the table with the corresponding number (NT) of the characteristic (CAR) in order to set up a call between the terminals.
