A PROSTHESIS

A passive, incontinence-inhibiting prosthesis for insertion into a position substantially coaxial with and at least partially surrounding at least a portion of the anal canal or urinary passage is provided. The prosthesis comprises a resiliently flexible body having dimensions such that, in the above-mentioned position, the prosthesis constrains tissue surrounding the anal canal or urinary passage. Advantages of the prosthesis include simplicity of use and operation.
