FIBER COATING HAVING LOW REFRACTIVE INDEX

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber coating composition having a low refractive index. SOLUTION: An optical fiber includes a coating provided with a cross-linked network comprising a reaction product of monomers and oligomers and at least one kind of a polymer dispersed or interpenetrated in the cross-linked network. The oligomer and polymer components for use are at least partially fluorinated. The fiber coating composition presents a low refractive index while satisfying conditions for industrial fiber-drawing.
