PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cage type rotor which can rotate at a high speed, which has a low cost and excellent productivity, and in which casting defect is few and high reliability. SOLUTION: This cage type rotor is obtained by integrally molding a conductor part having a rotor bar and annular end rings at both ends of the rotor bar in a cage shape by a high pressure die casting method on the rotor core 2 having a plurality of slots 5 on an outer periphery. At least part of the end ring is obtained by employing a ceramic powder or ceramic fiber as a reinforcing material, and forming of a metal-ceramic composite material in which the die casting material is used as a matrix. Further, the tensile strength of the end ring is 20 kg/mm<SP>2</SP>or more at 150°C, and the conductivity of the rotor bar is 56 IACS% or more. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
