<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IPS (in-plane switching) liquid crystal display with which occurrence of a partial unlit defect due to uneven array reflection and a short circuit of an electrode is suppressed and with which the transmittance is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes common electrode lines formed on an insulating substrate and has pixels surrounded by the common electrode lines formed on the insulating substrate. The pixel has: a Cs line crossing the pixel and formed on the insulating substrate; an insulating film covering the Cs line and laminated on the insulating substrate; a switching element insulated from the Cs line and formed on the insulating substrate; a first pixel electrode which is a transparent electrode connected to the switching element and formed on the insulating substrate; a shield insulating layer covering the first pixel electrode and laminated on the insulating substrate; and a second pixel electrode which is a transparent electrode overlapping with the first pixel electrode with the shield insulating layer interposed in between, electrically connected to the first pixel electrode, and formed on the shield insulating layer, wherein the common electrode lines are insulated from the first pixel electrode and formed on the shield insulating layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
