PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymeric optical waveguide having a core layer and a clad layer composed of a polyimide of superior reliability without a curl in a substrate and solvent cracks in polyimide layers when multilayered. SOLUTION: This polymeric optical waveguide comprises the core layer and the clad layer composed of the polyimide on the substrate, in which the core layer is composed of a first polyimide obtained by polycondensation of 2,2'-dichloro-4,4',5,5'-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride and an aromatic diamine and the clad layer is composed of a second polyimide obtained by polycondensation of an aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydride containing the 2,2'-dichloro-4,4',5,5'-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride and the aromatic diamine. In the polymeric optical waveguide, the refractive index of the first polyimide is higher than that of the second polyimide. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
