The connector consists of a female socket (1) with an inner space (10) and a male plug (2) with multiple contacts (25). The socket is made with a number of side recesses (13A, 13b) round its inner space to guide and centre the plug, which has an equal number of projections (23) to engage with the recesses. The connector also has a locking system with a pivoting lever to hold it in the engaged position, and the socket and plug are made from an aluminium-based alloy such as Fortal 7075 (RTM).
